Eight Toy Clusters Worth Rs. 2,300 Cr. Approved by Government

The Government of India is planning to establish eight toy manufacturing clusters across various states, three in Madhya Pradesh, two in Rajasthan, one each in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. These toy cluster which are worth Rs. 2,300 Cr., will manufacture toys made of wood, lac, palm leaves, bamboo and fabric.  These toy clusters are expected to be made operational in 12 months.  

The Ministry of MSME and the DPIIT are looking to develop the toy cluster under the existing schemes such as the Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (Sfurti). Currently, two toy clusters are being implemented in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka under the Sfurti scheme. The government is planning to establish over 35 toy clusters under the Sfurti scheme.    

The announcement came prior to the government’s plans to hold the Indian Toy Fair-2021 from February 27 to March 2. The virtual fair will help explore opportunities in the Indian toys industry and buy toys from over 1,000 toys exhibitors across India.
