Apple is reportedly planning to shift its manufacturing bases from China to India and Vietnam, says Nikkei Asia. As per the Nekkei Asia, Apple is ramping up the production of iPhones, iPads, Macs and other products outside China.

Apple has been manufacturing its iPhone 11 in India since 2020. Now, the company is planning to start the production of its latest iPhone 12 series in India. It is to be noted iPhone 12 series smartphones are Apple’s first 5G devices. While India is expected to be the smarphone manufacturing base of Apple, Vietnam is expected to be the manufacturing base of iPods and other Apple smartdevices.

India is already home to some of Apple’s contract manufacturers such as Wistron, Foxconn and Pegatron. With Apple gradually shifting its manufacturing base to India, MSMEs and SMEs in the Indian manufacturing sector are expected to get better business opportunities in the mobile accessories manufacturing segment.
